While you were sleeping, I swam 2600 yards. At 4:30 this morning I was wide awake, no alarm, just up. When that happens I usually grab my gym bag and go, what else am I going to do at 4:30 in the morning?
So I hopped into the pool. I had a bunch of extra time this morning and considered maybe logging a few treadmill miles too, but the very thought of the treadmill and trying to find something entertaining on the TV at that time of the morning kept me in the pool. As I was doing my laps I thought about how much I avoid the spin bike and the treadmill, but have no qualms about getting in the pool. In the pool I follow the blue line, move forward, zone out to the sound of water, and just swim. It’s that easy.
No matter what time of year it is, swimming is constant. If it’s Summer I have the option of open water swimming, but going to the pool never changes or feels like a chore like treadmill running does. This week alone I swam 8500 yards, because I didn’t want to get on the treadmill.
There’s hope I’ll get to run a few miles outside today, as it’s finally going to be a whopping twenty degrees!
